Summer light is a planning problem, not a problem
A summer wedding in Indore comes with its own photography conditions: a strong sun for much of the day, real heat in the afternoons, and long bright evenings. None of this needs to hurt the photographs. A schedule that respects the light and gives the heat a little room tends to show in the final gallery.
Let the sun set your portrait timing
Overhead midday sun creates hard shadows under the eyes and makes everyone squint. Couple and bridal portraits usually look softer in the last hour or two before sunset, when the light drops and warms. If the ceremony itself sits at midday, it helps to treat portraits as a separate, shorter session later in the day rather than forcing them into the harshest light.

Give the heat a place in the schedule
An outdoor ceremony in April or May means the couple and guests sit in the sun, often in heavy outfits. Two small decisions help the photographs here: keeping outdoor portrait blocks short with breaks in between, and picking a shaded or indoor corner where the couple can cool down. A couple that is not exhausted and overheated simply photographs better.
Haldi mornings are bright, fast and wet
The haldi ceremony often happens outdoors in the morning, with turmeric, water and constant movement. It photographs beautifully in daylight, but the exact spot matters: where the sun falls, what sits in the background, and how much room the photographer has to move. Our haldi photography guide covers that morning in more detail. Sharing the planned spot with your photographer a day earlier lets them position for the light instead of reacting to it.
Details and decor look different in daylight
Summer decor leans on marigolds, bright fabrics and open spaces, and all of it reads differently in direct sun than under evening lights. Detail frames of jewellery, footwear and flowers made in natural light tend to keep their colour honestly, so it is worth leaving a few minutes for them while the daylight is still good.

Indoor prep is your soft-light ally
Getting-ready hours usually happen indoors, where window light gives a softer, more controlled feel than the midday sun outside. Our guide to indoor wedding photography explains how rooms and window light shape those frames. For outdoor events later in the day, our outdoor wedding photography guide covers open-air light in depth.
What to confirm with your photographer
- How the ceremony timing lines up with the light on your date, and when portraits would work best.
- Which shaded or indoor spots at the venue can serve as a backup for portraits if the sun is harsh.
- How long outdoor portrait blocks will run, with breaks factored in for the heat.
- Where the haldi or any water ritual is planned, so positioning can be decided in advance.
- How the team keeps equipment and themselves functional through a hot afternoon.
None of these questions changes the wedding; they simply let the photography plan absorb the season instead of fighting it.
